Guild Challenges:

We have several new and exciting Challenges for 2025. Participation is completely voluntary and you may pick and choose from the following variety:
  • Mystery Quilt – Ann Underwood – This will be a true scrappy quilt. You must sign up by the March Guild meeting to receive monthly clues and must show your progress to continue receiving them each month.
  • Secret Garden Quilt – Jane Rowland – Use floral fabrics of your choice, off-white background fabrics of your choice, and any star block pattern to make 12.5″ blocks. Make as many blocks as you wish. Blocks are due at the July luncheon and your name will go in the drawing for each block as you bring. The winner(s) of enough blocks for a quilt top will be drawn at the luncheon. Upon bringing a completed quilt top to the December luncheon, you will be entered to receive a pre-set amount of batting, backing and edge-to-edge quilting by Jane.
  • Round Robin – Callie Reed – Sign-up by the February Guild meeting. Callie will have instructions, bags for your fabric, and a label at that time. Bring your completed RR center block, fabric choices, instruction sheet, and label in the sack to Callie at the sign-in table at the March guild meeting. Rounds will be added March-June and brought to each guild meeting.  Due at the August Guild meeting.
  • UFO. Challenge – Phyllis Stearnes – Turn in a list of 5 UFOs to finish with $5 entry fee by the March guild meeting; then finish each UFO to be entered for prizes. Phyllis will roll a number and you will finish the corresponding UFO on your list to show at the next guild meeting, beginning in April.
  • Apron Challenge – Vivian Basler/Connie Wilson – Bring each finished apron for the quilt show in a brown paper bag by the August Guild meeting. We will vote for a favorite for a Prize. Each entry will be given a ticket to place in the sack of your choice.

Special Bee Challenge 2024-25:

Underground Railroad Quilt Challenge
Starting July 11, 2024 for Bee Day Quilters

Several of us were admiring JK Williams’ Quilts before her June program started and Callie said we need to do the Underground Railroad Quilt. Great Idea Callie! We will be doing 2 blocks each month on Bee Day. I’ll have the first two patterns to begin our quilt blocks ready for you to cut and piece together July 11th.

Fabrics needed for Underground Railroad Quilt:
  • 2 yards background fabric, or (4) 1/2 yard cuts for a scrappy background
  • 12-14 fat quarters, assorted fabrics
  • Border and sashing to be determined later
There are several options to be determined by each individual, so come join us in July to make plans for your Quilt, even if you don’t have your fabric selection made by then. This is a sampler quilt, so it doesn’t have to be Reproduction Fabrics. It would look great in 30’s Fabrics or any collection you favor. Bring a sack lunch on Bee Day and enjoy some fellowship with friends!

Quilts of Valor:

The 2025 block drive block is the Log Cabin, designed and written by Nancy Cann. There are many ways and sizes to make Log Cabin blocks, which involve different strip widths, color combinations, and overall planning. Fabrics need to be 100% cotton, and color selection should be confined to shades of red, white or cream, and blue, and can be solids or small scale prints.

Visit the Quilts of Valor National Block Drive page for block instructions, quilt patterns, and information about mailing or reporting your blocks for the drive. Any quilter may contribute blocks and/or quilts to Quilts of Valor (QOV).
